The Race

In association with FILM 765, LLC, we are proud to introduce an original reality based film race that will spotlight three filmmaking teams that will have five days to shoot a short film (10-15 minutes including credits), as they travel through five counties in West Central Indiana.  The purpose of this competition is two-fold.  The primary goal is to promote movie making in Indiana by exposing our viewers to the incredible destination locations available for film production in Indiana.  The second is to showcase film talent to our viewers via a television distribution agreement.

AVAILABILITY

Teams should be available from Wednesday, September 26, 2018 – Tuesday, October 2, 2018.  This includes an opening ceremony in Lafayette, Indiana on September 26 and five days of filming.  Teams will then return home and will have three weeks for post-production.  A closing and awards red carpet event will be held on Sunday, November 4 in Greencastle, Indiana.  Final edited films must be submitted to FILM 765 PRODUCERS BY 6:00pm/EST by Wednesday, October 24, 2018.  Any team that does not meet this deadline will be automatically eliminated from the competition.  Accommodations and food will be provided for two team members of each team wishing to attend the awards ceremony in November.

RESOURCES PROVIDED BY IFR

Each team will travel in their RV for the duration of the race.  Each team will have access to county resources, such as local supporting actors, extras and PA’s.  Teams will be required to shoot in one predetermined location in each county and you will be required to shoot in each county in order of travel as predetermined by the producers of the INDIANA FILM RACE.  Additional shooting locations can be discussed with our producers in order to accommodate your script.

After team competitors are announced, after locations are determined and actors are engaged, you will have five weeks to write and prepare for the competition.

JUDGES

A panel of esteemed industry professionals will make the final decision of the winner of the INDIANA FILM RACE 2018.  Judging will be based on criteria of six points which included:  directing, cinematography, audio, edition, production design and story.  The winning film ream will be awarded a $10,000 cash prize at the awards ceremony.

Additional Information

Competing teams can be made up of five members that might include a director, cinematographer, sound mixer, producer, hair/makeup and actors.  You will be required to bring your own film, sound and editing equipment.  You will also be responsible for your own travel expenses to and from Indiana.  Each team will also be provided with an additional budget of $2000 to defray film production costs.  Food will be provided by local restaurants on a scheduled time at each film site or RV parking site.  Please keep in mind that the IFR will be engaging a ‘behind the scenes’ film crew that will follow the film making teams.
